What it does.
The FY2026 NDAA delivers Kansas-specific wins: funding for a new air-traffic-control tower at Fort Riley and an expanded training course at the post. Fort Riley is Kansas's largest military installation, home to the 1st Infantry Division and roughly 14,500 active-duty soldiers. Fort Leavenworth, McConnell AFB (22nd Air Refueling Wing), and the 184th Wing in Wichita round out the in-state defense footprint Doc represents in committee.
S. 1071 authorizes the full Defense Department budget and is the main annual vehicle for Congressional defense priorities. Doc voted yes. President Trump signed it into law.
Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth, McConnell AFB, and the 184th Wing together anchor tens of thousands of Kansas defense jobs and the communities around them. NDAA is the senator's annual lever to keep that footprint funded and modernized.
