Bill · PL 116-115

Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act

Opens federal STEM scholarship, fellowship, and outreach programs to veterans transitioning into civilian careers.

The bill

What it does.

This law gets transitioning veterans into the federal STEM programs that fit the careers they actually pursue after service: engineering, IT, cybersecurity, aviation. It instructs the NSF, NASA, and Department of Energy to actively recruit veterans into their scholarship, fellowship, and outreach programs, and to coordinate with the VA on transition-career pathways.

Doc cosponsored the bill as a Congressman, the prior chapter of his federal record before moving to the Senate in 2021. President Trump signed it into law as Public Law 116-115 on February 11, 2020.
